Successes!

I can't believe I've been so away from blogging! It always seems to happen that just when I get good and established with my blog posts and get involved in other blogs' goings-on and challenges and such, I quit blogging regularly. Anyway, I've been busy.

1) We have potty training success! He's not fully trained, but he's been wearing underpants every day for exactly one week. And using the toilet! Don't get me wrong, his love affair with pull-ups is not over, but he's doing really well. And this helped. A lot. (I picked it up just before Labor Day weekend as an impulse buy at the front of TJ Maxx--it was one of those 50% off things that I ordinarily wouldn't have even paid attention to.)

2) First day of pre-school was yesterday and he was soooo excited to go. (We had a visitation/open house on Friday). He did cry when I left but they said he calmed down after a few minutes. And then when I picked him up, he was fine and wanted to explore the rest of the building. It's only 2 hours this week. And he'll only be going 2 days a week. But I think it's going to be good.

I so remember those days! Yeah for the potty training -- that is a tough hurdle to get past. Then it is buying elastic waisted pants so they can get there pants back on at school without having to fumble with buttons and snaps. My oldest totally lost it the first day of pre-school. I just handed him off while he was screaming for me. The stress. He too calmed down almost immediately and was good that day forward. Now my 7 year old won't go to school. He has been out 2 days "sick". I had him at the front door of the school and the big crocodile tears were coming down "but Mom I don't feel good!" So we turned around. He is fine - quite active at home. I am totally getting hosed but what can you do?

Woo hoo for potty training :) I'm glad you guys are over that hurdle! And it sounds like nurery school will be a winner, too. We had our first day today without parents. The teacher had to peel Liam off of me but he did calm down and have a good time after a while :)

All these big milestones!
